In recognition of Internet Safety Month, this Cyber Bulletin covers emerging cyber threats, compliance, phishing awareness, and tips to help teams work smarter and more securely.

What Is CMMC Compliance & Why It Matters
CMMC is driving stronger cybersecurity practices and is now required for DoD contract eligibility.
June is recognized as Internet Safety Month, and phishing remains one of the most common ways organizations are compromised. These attacks have become increasingly sophisticated, often appearing as routine business communications and relying on quick reactions rather than obvious red flags.
One thing we see every day is how awareness makes a difference. Approximately 20% of the tickets our team handles are phishing alerts reported by clients who have learned to pause and question what they receive instead of clicking right away. It is a strong indicator that education and vigilance are working.
Through our Security Plus offering, we help reinforce that behavior with phishing training designed to show users what is safe and what is not. When people feel confident recognizing and reporting suspicious activity, it strengthens the entire organization’s security posture.

AI Prompts...
When writing an AI prompt be sure to include the audience, the tone, and the goal. Try these helpful prompts throughout your workday:
Turn these notes into a clean meeting summary for internal stakeholders in a clear and professional tone, highlighting key decisions, action items, and assigned owners: [notes]
Create a structured agenda for a 30-minute meeting for a cross-functional team in a focused and efficient tone, with time blocks and clear objectives for each section: [topic]
Prioritize this task list for a project manager in a practical, results-oriented tone, ranking by business impact and urgency: [tasks]
Phishing Red Flags...
If you spot an email with any of these red flags, report it right away:
Urgency or pressure
Unusual sender address
Unexpected requests
Mismatched or suspicious links
Attachments you weren't expecting
Generic greetings like "Dear employee"
Too good or overly alarming messages
Subtle inconsistencies like grammar issues, branding differences, or formatting errors
It’s always better to report a suspicious email that turns out to be safe than to click on one that isn’t.
When did it happen? The breach occurred in May 2026 and was publicly confirmed by DentaQuest on June 2, 2026, after the stolen data was leaked online.
What happened?
The ShinyHunters extortion group gained unauthorized access to DentaQuest’s network and stole approximately 234 GB of data. After the company allegedly refused to pay a ransom, the attackers published the stolen data on a leak site. DentaQuest stated it took immediate action to contain the incident and brought in external cybersecurity experts, though the full scope of the breach remains under investigation.
How many people were affected? The leaked dataset contained information tied to approximately 2.6 million accounts. Exposed data includes names, email addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, home addresses, government-issued IDs, and health insurance information.
How could this have been prevented?
While the exact entry point has not been publicly disclosed, the impact may have been reduced with these measures:
Stronger identity and access management to prevent unauthorized system access
Routine monitoring and alerting to detect large-scale data exfiltration sooner
Regular security awareness training to reduce risk from credential theft and phishing
Data segmentation to limit exposure of sensitive healthcare and personal data
Community Spotlight...
DP Solutions was proud to support and participate in the Annapolis Great Strides Walk for Cystic Fibrosis alongside Team Feets, led by Laura Gordon of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce. This year marked a special milestone as Team Feets celebrated its 25th anniversary, bringing the community together in support of an important cause. Our team was excited to walk, show support, and be part of this meaningful event.
