FBI Warns iPhone, Android Users—Change WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Signal Apps

The FBI told smartphone users to stop texting and opt for an encrypted messaging app, such as WhatsApp, Signal, or Facebook Messenger, for secure communication. The FBI also called for these platforms to adopt "responsibly managed encryption," which would keep data private while enabling tech companies to provide content in compliance with court orders.

Spain busts voice phishing ring for defrauding 10,000 bank customers

The Spanish and Peruvian National Police arrested 83 individuals involved in a vishing scam between the countries. The scammers used caller spoofing technology to impersonate banks and trick victims into sharing their banking information.

US sanctions Chinese firm for hacking firewalls in ransomware attacks

The U.S. Treasury Department sanctioned Sichuan Silence, a Chinese-based cybersecurity company, and one of its employees, Guan Tianfeng, for deploying ransomware to roughly 81,000 firewalls worldwide.
