Biden bans US sales of Kaspersky software over Russia ties
Kaspersky is a Russian cybersecurity company that provides anti-virus products and services to over 400 million people and 200 countries/territories. The U.S. Department of Commerce determined that Kaspersky Software poses a national security risk and has banned the company from selling products and services to U.S.-based customers. Previously, the Department of Homeland Security prohibited the use of Kaspersky products within the Federal Government.
TeamViewer IT security update
TeamViewer, maker of remote monitoring and management (RMM) software, detected an "irregularity" in its internal corporate IT environment on June 26. Through an investigation together with experts from Microsoft, they have confirmed that the incident was contained to their internal environment, which is separate from their product environment and customer data.
CDK says all auto dealers should be back online by Thursday after outage
A cyberattack on June 19 forced CDK Global, a software company for auto dealerships, to shut down all of its systems. Car dealerships are a growing target for cybercriminals due to the amounts of sensitive customer data they manage.
Hackers leak 39,000 print-at-home Ticketmaster tickets for 154 events
Hackers leaked almost 39,000 concert tickets stolen from Ticketmaster's Snowflake account. Additionally, a well-known threat actor gained access to the data of 560 million Ticketmaster customers and demanded a $2 million ransom payment.
Microsoft Bans Android Devices for China Employees, Mandates iPhones
Microsoft launched a security initiative to combat cyber threats after multiple cyberattacks. Part of this initiative is using Microsoft's security apps, like Microsoft Authenticator and Identity Pass. However, since Google Play Store is not accessible in China, the apps cannot run on Android devices. The company is now requiring employees in China to use iPhones for work purposes.
Evolve Bank Data Breach: 7.6 Million Individuals’ Data Exposed
Evolve Bank & Trust was breached in February 2024 and discovered in May. Over 7.6 million individuals have had their personal information exposed. Affected individuals are being notified and will receive 24 months of monitoring and identity protection.
