MD5G is a statewide partnership of individuals, businesses, community leaders, and non-profits that are advocating for growing Maryland’s innovation economy through communications infrastructure and next-generation networks.

Why is 5G so important?
Educational Impact
Connected classrooms are the future of education. Students all over the world rely on internet accessibility to complete their assignments at home and at school. 5G will increase streaming quality, download speeds and support e-learning platforms that will prepare our students for the workforce.
Public Safety Impact
When there’s an emergency, first responders are our lifeline. 5G will enable accurate location data and real time updates so first responders are equipped with enhanced tools to keep our communities and our citizens safe.

The next generation of connectivity will offer a host of innovative opportunities for Maryland’s healthcare providers. 5G will enable more efficient treatments for patients, facility-wide patient-monitoring systems, and more secure patient data.

The potential economic impact of 5G in Maryland is hard to ignore. It will create an estimated 9,700 5G-created jobs, $850 million in network investment, and a staggering $1.5 billion in estimated GDP growth for the state.
