Job Description:
The Network Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the determination of client needs and the execution required for office moves, expansions, or implementation of substantial systems requiring changes in a networking environment. During the needs analysis the Network Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for client engagement; vendor engagement and must have the ability to properly provide details so that a scope of work and design document can be created by VP of Technical Services or the Solutions Engineer. Examples to include, but not limited too – SIP/VOIP phone systems; firewall & switch deployments; wireless solutions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support relating to issues relating to technical issues involving Microsoft’s core business applications, as well as virtual environment built on Citrix, Microsoft, and VMware.
- Perform Site Surveys and requirements for projects.
- To include but not limited too – wireless solutions; phone systems; site requirement review for new client locations or expansions.
- May require engagement and interaction with 3rd party vendor(s) OR identification that additional resources are needed (ie. Cabling or electrical)
- Provide required documentation and communication to Solution Engineer & VP of Technical Services.
- Vendor communication.
- Understand their requirements and impact on current or new solution.
- Ability to engage, schedule and have solid communication between vendor, client and DPS.
- Deployment/implementation of DPS provided solutions.
- IT Glue documentation. Document new solution / remove any solutions being replaced.
- Include copy of configuration files at time of deployment. When changes are made, make sure documentation receives new configuration file, and any necessary documentation is updated.
- Work with DPS personnel to assist in troubleshooting client networking and infrastructure related issues and requests.
- Participate in creating and maintaining DPS corporate best practices.
- Administrative documentation to include accurate time and work detail recording.
- Communication with customers as required: keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes, or agreed outages.
- Document internal processes and procedures related to duties and responsibilities.
- Review IT publications and online materials to remain up-to-date with current and future technologies emerging in the industry.
- Engage in agreed education, certifications for continued technology knowledge.
- Improve customer service, perception, and satisfaction.

- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required:
- Requires strong understanding of networking including both physical and operational requirements.
- Requires understanding of general requirements for Voice, Wireless and Telecom solutions.
- Skills to diagnose and effectively troubleshoot technical issues.
- Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to change.
- Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.
- Technical awareness: ability to match resources to technical issues appropriately.
- Service awareness of all organization’s key IT services for which support is being provided.
- Understanding of DPS support tools, techniques, and how technology is used to provide IT services.
- Typing skills to ensure quick and accurate entry of service request details.
- Understanding of processes within ConnectWise, Automate & IT Glue.
- Ability to utilize the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Visio and Word, to create documentation.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
