Plan and Implement IT Projects for a Diverse Client Base

Job Description:

The Project Engineer is a senior technical position within the organization. This position is responsible for planning and implementing IT projects varying in scope and size. Due to the wide and diverse IT landscape of our client base, the Project Engineer will not only be required to have broad technical experience and skills but will also need to remain current on the new technologies and solutions that emerge. The Project Engineer will, at times, become an escalation point for service requests if the resolution requires advanced remediation and troubleshooting. In addition, the Project Engineer may be engaged as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for pre-sales engagements or existing client discussions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Engineer and implement system solutions for customers using technologies that meet their needs
  • Effectively communicate technical concepts and processes to clients of both technical and non-technical backgrounds
  • System documentation and consulting services to include system reviews and recommendations
  • Communication with customers as required: keeping them informed of project status, notifying them of impending changes, and agreed outages.
  • Participate in pre-sales engagements as a SME
  • Document internal process and procedures related to design, implementation and projects
  • Periodic on call rotation and availability as needed during off business hours
  • Perform troubleshooting and problem resolution of familiar and unfamiliar networks as required or escalated
  • Improve customer service, perception, and satisfaction
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Knowledge of IT applications, processes, software and equipment is a plus.

  • Extensive knowledge of Active Directory architecture and practical experience with upgrades and migrations. MCSE or equivalent certification is a plus
  • Deep understanding of networking concepts, design and best practices. Practical experience with infrastructure upgrades, VPN implementation, VLAN, firewall policy (Fortigate and Sonicwall preferred). CCNA or JNCIS certification is a plus
  • Understanding of Microsoft 365 platform, experience with configuration of Office 365 and migration of email systems to Office 365. Microsoft 365 certifications and practical experience with Sharepoint migrations are a plus
  • Deep understanding of virtualization and hypervisor solutions (VMware and Hyper-V). VMWare VCP or equivalent certification is a plus
  • Understanding of Azure IAAS architecture, concepts and best practices. Practical experience with implementation and migration and Azure Administrator certification (AZ-104) are a plus
  • Extensive knowledge of remote access technologies and solutions such as SSL VPN, RDS, and desktop-as- a-service. Practical experience with design, implementation and troubleshooting is a must
  • Knowledge and understanding of Multi-factor authentication solutions such as
  • Microsoft MFA for Office 365 and DUO
  • Knowledge and understanding of Single-Sign-On (SSO) concepts and solutions such as Azure AD Connect, Azure AD SSO, and DUO
  • Knowledge and understanding of Mobile device Management concepts and solutions such as Microsoft Intune
  • 7 Years of technical experience

  • Service awareness of all organization’s key IT services for which support is being provided
  • Understanding of support tools, techniques, and how technology is used to provide IT services
  • Typing skills to ensure quick and accurate entry of service request details.

  • Understanding of processes within ConnectWise

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
